As a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nutritionist, I can help you get the most out of your life by guiding you to better health.
The most important advice that can be given regarding food, is that which ensures that ALL the basic nutrients are considered. If you consult me, this will be my priority. Much dietary advice given starts with the calorie content of food. This is a reflection of the current – that is, in the last few decades – obsession with weight. There is no doubt that clinical obesity is a problem which has to be addressed, but sometimes this is done at the expense of the basic elements of life. (In fact, a recent study shows that being slightly overweight gives women the chance of being healthier for longer in their twilight years, than being slightly underweight.) Remember also, that losing weight is relatively easy – keeping it off is more challenging but doing any of this without knowledge of adequate nutrition is almost impossible and could be dangerous to overall health.
